It dominates the film that dominates the lives of the main characters in this movie. This is not a film about small-town America. It's a small town where everyone knows everyone, but most of the action takes place outside the city, the river, and in uninhabited areas of river ecosystems. The two boys of fourteen and their families, the people across the river, making a precarious life of the river. Life is hard, but the people are hardworking, honest and full of resources. Both actors seem natural and believable in their roles. Chris Pine was considered for the role of the mysterious stranger, and his blue eyes and youthful appearance, he would be attractive and charismatic air when he met the messenger boy, Mon. I bet he wishes he had been in the well-scripted film. But the loss Pines Matthew McConaugheys profit. Robinson Crusoe was never like that.
