Review:
I for one really like this movie for some reasons I'll go into later, but I want to comment on why I think people do not like it. First, there are people out there who just love to hate Tom Cruise. I do not really understand. Second, Cameron Crowe I think successfully p *** es from two groups of movie goers with this film. The casual, relaxed, not looking to think too hard group of movie goers left confused when the plot takes a complete 180 at the end of the film. And the deep, philosophical mystery fans are devastated when Crowe has one of his characters to fully explain mystery.This is a good film. And Tom Cruise is a very good job. I think that is probably his best performance that I've seen though I havent seen all his films, or even most of them probably. The votes of support is also good. Penelope Cruz and Jason Lee deliver solid performance was enjoyable.I like history, and I think this is what Vanilla Sky is more than anything. He mystery, adventure, and romantic comedy, but it is usually just a good story. And it has a lot of philosophical undertones, and many similar ideas and stories as they occur in historical philosophy. David Aames (Cruise) is the man all he wanted, was more or less lost, got another chance with a catch to all come back, and finally to his demons and the full range of what is happening, choose reality see simplicity, and normalcy if he can find one thing he could never get a handle on lock: happiness.Many people were disappointed that Crowe built the puzzle at the end. I think it is necessary. The audience will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that David is aware of his circumstances and make a choice at the end of powerful.And the music in the film is great. Its probably what makes the film as enjoyable as it is. Particularly, Njosnavelin by Sigur Ros, which is great song.All all, Id give it 3 out of 4 stars. It is a film with some substance for those who like to think things through, and a great story for those looking to relax. This moderate approach is probably the reason why people hate it so much because it is a full blown mystery or love story full blown. The mix and match different elements and genres.
